Call for Papers: Judicial Politics, Law and Courts at DVPW 2027

The JuDem research team is pleased to co-host two panels at the Annual Conference of the German Political Science Association (DVPW), taking place from 7 to 10 September 2027 at Leipzig University.

We invite scholars working on judicial politics, law and courts to submit proposals for the following panels:

• Safeguarding Judicial Autonomy in the 21st Century: Between Judicial Backsliding and Democratic Innovation

Chairs: Heleen Matton and Leonie-Teresa Bohle (both CCRD)

• Judicial Independence: Contested in Practice, Contested in Theory

Chairs: Valentin Feneberg and Friederike Augustin (CCRD)

The panels will provide a platform for scholarly exchange on contemporary challenges to judicial autonomy and independence, as well as their theoretical and practical implications.
