Sergiu Bușcaneanu's Recent Article: "Paths to European integration in the Eastern Neighbourhood: a set-theoretic approach"

We congratulate our fellow Sergiu Bușcaneanu on the publication of his research article "Paths to European integration in the Eastern Neighbourhood: a set-theoretic approach" in the Journal of European Integration.

As the EU's relationship with its Eastern neighbours continues to evolve, with Ukraine and Moldova advancing toward membership and other partners following very different routes, understanding why countries move closer to the EU at different speeds has never been more relevant.

Using a set-theoretic approach, the article examines how different combinations of conditions shape paths to European integration across the Eastern Neighbourhood. Rather than looking for a single explanation, it shows that several distinct routes can lead to deeper integration, offering a more nuanced picture of the region's diverse trajectories.
